ALEX FROM TOKYO / “TIMEWARP”― SUGGESTION OF THE REAL DANCE MUSIC
Paris born, lived in Tokyo, now NYC based international DJ, Alex from Tokyo. His original eclectic Dj style has been turning on crazy party people all over the dance floors around the world from Tokyo, NYC, Berlin etc. His various releases under his production unit「Tokyo Black Star」with Isao Kumano have been getting lots of attention from DJs and creators all around the world.
Alex started last year with us at Synthesize a project called Timewarp. This project started with the idea of presenting club music from today without limiting to any genres and it has been presented successfully in different ways until now.
This resident party started at Space Lab Yellow, and has gained everytime lots of new core music fans and great support of party people. Every time the reactions from today's dance music scene leader's session with guests we invited Charles Webster, Ame, Dixon, Ian O'brien and FOOG have been growing. Also, the reactions from the 2 mix CDs "Timewarp 001 & 002" have been growing too. With the artworks of Code;C and Tomokazu Matsuyama, we have presented a new form of ART taking beyond music through collaboration works with artists. The reactions from the mix CDs have gone beyond Japan too, and have gained attention from DJs and the music scene around the world from NYC, France, Germany etc.
The first ever Timewarp Japan tour started from Tokyo last April. The tour is going on until June. So, we interviewed Alex who just finished the first half of the tour about the tour and Timewarp.
－ There are lots of things I would like to talk about (laugh) but let's start with the tour. The first half went fast.

「It was really non-stop! On top of that, every time was special」
－ You must have different images about every place、How was it to tour 7 places?
ALEX 「First, It was great to go new places. Especially, I got very motivated to start the tour with Kanazawa which was the first time for me. I got very excited also because we got together with the TIMEWARP crew and with our VJ Hajime in a place outside Tokyo! The party was really crazy and I felt like the tour has definitely begun!」
